OMAHA, Neb. — Georgia baseball resumes its play in the College World Series on Monday night.
The Bulldogs spent part of Sunday practicing for the game against Oklahoma in Charles Schwab Field. Georgia (52-12) is coming off the high of a 7-1 win over Texas Saturday night.
“You have a little bit of anxiety wanting to get right back to the field, playing on such a big stage like that,” third baseman Tre Phelps said.
He said coach Wes Johnson said the hard part was going to be having the focus after a big win.
Johnson said he was pleased with how his team looked.
Oklahoma (39-22) has won six straight since a 9-3 loss to Georgia Tech on May 30 in the Atlanta Regional when the Sooners came back to beat the Yellow Jackets twice to advance.
Georgia will start fifth-year righty Caden Aoki (9-1. 4.04 ERA).
“The stage isn’t going to be too big for him,” Johnson said. “Everybody’s going to have some nerves of some kind, but it’s not going to be the wrong kind of nerves.”
Georgia will play Oklahoma on ESPN. Announcers for the game are Karl Ravech, Kyle Peterson, Chris Burke and Kris Budden.
Georgia and Oklahoma will play at Charles Schwab Field at 7 p.m. Monday.
