SPRINGFIELD–Bears men’s basketball standouts, Kyle Weems and Alize Johnson, were rightfully inducted into the Missouri State Athletics Hall of Fame, on Sunday.
The duo, along with six others and the 1963 Bears National Championship golf team, were newest inductees to be immortalized.
Weems, who played for current Missouri State men’s basketball coach, Cuonzo Martin, during Martin’s first stint in Springfield (2007-2012), left the program with multiple records, which include: most games played, most double-digit scoring games, rebounds, and second-most points.
As for Johnson, he also ran the floor at Great Southern Bank Arena and made quite the name for himself during his time in maroon and white from 2016-2018. Johnson was such a talented player, he became just the second player in program history to get drafted into the NBA, when he was taken by the Indianapolis Pacers, with the 50th overall pick, in the second round of the 2018 draft.
