COLUMBIA — Another Hall of Fame induction is on the horizon for former South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier.

Spurrier was announced as part of the 2026 class for the University of South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame class on June 2.

He was inducted to the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame, which includes the entire state, on May 18.

Spurrier is the winningest football coach in program history with an 86-49 record (.637) across 11 seasons with the Gamecocks. He had three 11-win seasons with South Carolina and went to the program's only SEC Championship Game in 2010.

Spurrier is one of the seven athletes who are getting inducted for individual efforts.

The 2010 and 2011 national championship winning baseball teams are getting inducted, which marks the first time a full team is receiving the honor.

Ray Tanner coached both teams to the College World Series victories and became athletic director in 2012. He retired as AD in the fall of 2024.

The Hall of Fame ceremony will be held Nov. 5.

Former South Carolina guard Ty Harris getting HOF induction

One year after WNBA star and Gamecocks legend A'ja Wilson was inducted in South Carolina's Hall of Fame, her former college teammate is getting the same nod.

Tyasha (Ty) Harris was Wilson's point guard who helped carry Dawn Staley to her first national championship in 2017 and is now part of the 2026 HOF class.

Her senior season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic but Harris is still the only player in school history with more than 1,000 points and 700 assists. She is second in all-time assists with 702.

She was drafted No. 7 overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft and is playing on the Indiana Fever with Gamecock alums Raven Johnson and Aliyah Boston. Harris is averaging 2.6 points and 1.9 assists.
