Sadly it is already that time to post the Cardinals’ elimination scenarios. With the loss to the Rams, Arizona cannot win the division. Also, the Cardinals would lose all tie-breakers to Seattle.
To survive through Week 14, the Cardinals pretty much need to win, and get a loss by either SEA or CRL or ATL. If all three win, I believe we would be out due to the forced-win by ATL over CRL in week 17, putting ATL ahead of CRL at 9-7 and ahead of us on conference record (I don’t see a rescue scenario by another team in the East or North in a bigger tie-break).
Oddly enough, I do see one possible survival scenario even should the Cardinals LOSE to TEN this week. We would need losses by CRL + ATL + either GB/DET. In this scenario, the forced-win by ATL over CRL in the finale doesn’t put ATL ahead of CRL (thanks instead to the assumed ATL division loss to NO this week) and we would beat CRL at 8-8 on conference record. GB does have a forced-win over CRL in this scenario, and a game still remaining against DET. If both GB/DET lose this week, there are several later combos allowed. If DET wins but GB loses (to CLE), we would need the GB-DET game to end in a draw (both end up 7-8-1). If GB wins but DET loses, GB would need to end up at 8-8 (with remaining win against CRL); they would beat us in the common games tie-break, but there is a rescue scenario with DAL going 8-8 in the East with one of their remaining wins having to be against OAK to extend the tie-breaker past common games and give us a chance on strength of victory in the three-way tie.
Note, I don’t expect any of this to actually happen. Just getting the countdown going before it is official.
