No one can say Brown, Williams or Benson will amount to James at the next level but James is proven. Not only the Cards thought Thomas Jones was going to be a stud during that draft and he turned out much less than what everyone expected. If it would be for a second round and the third round pick traded to us from the Pats I would do it in a heartbeat. Trust me, this team could figure a way to get Edge the money. Synder and Jones do this on a constant basis and it's up to Michael Bidwill to move this franchise to that next level if the opportunity presents itself.

I would trade Shipp and a second for James. Trade Shelton for a second. Shop Pace, Bryant, Thompson and Clement for more picks. Trade all of our picks from the lowest second on down for a first. Sign Hartwell ( that would give both sides of the ball an Edge). Then use all of our remaining picks on one of the top 3 backs and corners. Also re-sign Hill.
This would free up alot of cap space and limit the amount we would have to pay out for rookies.

I know this has really not been thrown out there, but why can't we send Shelton to the Colt for James. They would be saving 5 million a year and have another experienced O-Lineman for really cheap. Maybe we can throw in a 7th to make them happy.

If we can get "the EDGE" for a second round choice we should trade our first round choice for a couple of 2nd rounders and save the first round money so to pay "the EDGE". More good bodies for less money!
Bringing in James would be like bring in Warner which was like bring in Emmitt. Develop young players, blah blah blah.

To be honest if it came down to it I'd much rather have James than Hartwell, although Hartwell is proven I think Hayes just needs a chance and James would help this team more than Hartwell.
