It's very early, but let's take a look ahead to the Indianapolis Colts' 2027 salary cap situation.
This offseason, the Colts are positioned well salary-cap-wise, which is in large part due to Indianapolis trading Michael Pittman, a move that freed up $24 million in 2026 salary cap space.
Following the initial free agency waves, the Colts have $26.62 million in available cap space. This ranks as the 12th-most in the NFL. Of note, any unused cap space from 2026 can be rolled over to 2027.
At this moment, Over the Cap is projecting that the Colts have $88.10 million in cap space for the 2027 season. Only eight NFL teams are projected to have more space than the Colts.
The largest salary cap hits on the roster next year belong to Daniel Jones ($46.8M), Charvarius Ward ($24.66M), Alec Pierce ($35.2M), Bernhard Raimann ($30.6M), and Sauce Gardner ($20.95M).
Like every other NFL team, the Colts have the ability to create more room through contract restructures, certain veteran cuts, or even contract extensions in some instances.
From the front office to the coaching staff to the roster, the Colts could undergo significant change next offseason if Indianapolis fails to make the playoffs again in 2026.
