With you homeboy! We routed them last year to end the season! Ran them off the field!

Now that we've had a better offseason, why should they be favored in either game?
With ALL my heart I want to proclaim to everyone that the Cardinals are a better team than the Niners. But, it’s also true that the Niners under Shanahan have a history of bouncing back from injury riddled seasons where they picked in the top 10 to go very deep into the playoffs the very next season. Having the easiest schedule in the NFL will make prognosticators think the same can happen again. I’m praying the Cardinals travel to Santa Clara in week 3 and put an a$$ whooping on them, but time will tell.

They won 6 games last year with the same QB and more weapons.

The national media is in love with a 49ers team that no longer exists.

Salah coming back changes nothing.
I don't fully agree with this perspective, but it's the argument.

I've heard nat'l media claiming SF will win 10 or more games due to a weak division. Nobody can say with any certainty what will happen. Folks claiming we are a lock to beat SF twice are not grounded in reality, let's just say.
Good call because we're going to San Francisco week 3. So good chance we'll lose that game.

Winning on the road can be tough. Divisional matchups are tough. They have the HC advantage. Some people argue they have the QB advantage. People equate some of their drop off to health (shouldn't be an issue early). They believe their losses were a bit overrated and might be offset by bringing back Salah to run the defense.

Not saying that you need to agree with this, but these are the arguments.
The key to beating the Niners is simple; control McCaffrey. Sadly the Cards have had little success doing this. I’ve suggested putting a spy on him, like you would do with a QB. He’s not super hard to tackle, but it takes a fine athlete to cover him. Taylor-Demerson is likely best equipped to do this. If you played him at safety that would force Baker to cover more, not his strength. Still with an improved pass rush and improving corners, I’m willing to make this adjustment. Baker is too small to cover McCaffrey and like Baker, Thompson’s cover skill leave a lot to be desired. If McCaffrey is injured, these become very winsble games. Aiyuk is always a concern, but the improved pass rush should control their passing attack aside from McCaffrey.

i want two spies - a mobile linebacker and we should be able to use our safeties more like safeties this year - I think dtd might be that sneaky guy

I’m not certain if McCaffrey is ever what he once was. And even if he is, he will never see the holes he once did against our pathetic D lines of the past. Whenever he had big games against us, he was never touched or even slowed down until he got into our secondary. And let’s not forget that the best Niners O-Lineman is almost 40 and coming off an injury riddled season. Bottom line, the Niners won’t beat us because of their offense.
