Tyson Fury showed up at UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday, and for a few minutes the night on the White House lawn belonged to boxing.

Fury, wearing a red and white hat that said "Donald Trump for Prime Minister," walked down to the octagon and took the mic with Jon Anik. He had news, he said, but he wasn't the one to announce it. That was Dana White's job, he said.

Then he tipped it anyway, putting a fight with Anthony Joshua at 100 percent and calling it "over a decade in the making."

That Fury was standing there on the White House lawn at all was a surprise.

Fury had not set foot in the United States since 2021. He'd been kept out over reported ties to Daniel Kinahan, an alleged crime boss the U.S. placed under sanctions. Now here he was on the South Lawn, which suggested the fight could be held on American soil, perhaps with the White House involved.

So far though, Fury was only hinting. The two have spent years almost fighting. They are the names British boxing has wanted across the ring from each other for most of a decade, and they have never gotten there.

If this is the hint it's about to go down, it's huge.

All of this happened on the night that UFC put a cage on the White House lawn for the first time, on Donald Trump's 80th birthday.
