As expected, Tyson Fury was victorious in his final tune-up for Anthony Joshua.
Fury (36-2-1), a U.K. boxing star and former unified heavyweight champion, defeated Poland's Mariusz Wach on Friday at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand. Fury won by TKO after Round 7, as Wach didn't answer the bell to begin Round 8.
The inaugural WBC humanitarian title was granted to Fury with the win. The event was a charity event, with the profits generated from ticket sales going to local charities across Pattaya.
The fight went down one day before Anthony Joshua vs. Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. As long as everything goes accordingly, Fury and Joshua are expected to square off in a blockbuster bout toward the end of the year. The two, being the biggest stars in British boxing, have been on a collision course for many years.
Fury looked to have no problem dealing with the 46-year-old Wach. He was seen toying around with Wach in the bout, and playing the role of entertainer with flashy moves for the crowd in Thailand.
This was be Fury's second win since his defeats in his massive pair of championship bouts against Oleksandr Usyk in 2024. Fury bounced back from the losses earlier this year by defeating veteran Arslanbek Makhmudov in a unanimous decision, and now Wach by TKO.
Wach (39-14) failed to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Viktor Vykhryst for the WBO European heavyweight title in March. He is 3-8 in his past 11 boxing bouts. Back in April, Wach competed in a 3 vs. 1 MMA fight against influencers in Poland.
