Kodi Greene hasn't done much of note in three spring practices for Washington.

For an offensive lineman, that might be the highest compliment possible.

Greene, the crown jewel of Washington's best recruiting class in school history, has been the starting left tackle in all three practices with Sam Houston transfer Kolt Dieterich sidelined for the first portion of spring practice. He's looked right at home - looking both just as big and just as talented as the rest of the Huskies' offensive line, which returns four starters at every other position.

That's a testament to the job head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff have done through their first two seasons and change to turn a group that had only seven scholarship players this time in 2024 into a group that looks like a legitimate Big Ten offensive line, one that is big and talented enough to hide somebody as physically impressive as Greene.

Greene, who 247Sports compared to Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Anton Harrison, has played left and right tackle in high school, but has been mentioned as a potential starter at left tackle by Fisch since the moment Washington's head coach was allowed to talk about him. His technical polish and movement ability to reach second-level blocks are clear reasons why he finished as the No. 3 offensive tackle recruit in the 2026 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

When Dieterich returns, expect Fisch and offensive line coach Michael Switzer to use him to push Greene and ensure the 17-year-old is ready to start in the Big Ten as a true freshman. But even if he isn't, Washington will have at least eight Big Ten-quality offensive linemen on the roster this season, a huge upgrade compared to what they've been working with over the last two seasons. One of Dieterich or Greene will be quality depth at tackle, one of Geirean Hatchett and Champ Taulealea will back things up at guard, and center Jake Flores has gotten starting reps this spring with Geirean and his brother Landen missing practice on Saturday.

Dieterich and Landen Hatchett have already been ribbing their freshman teammate through the first week of practice, joking around with him about the intensity of a Big Ten practice. But Greene's early arrival and immediate first-team reps are a great sign regarding his development.

He'll also be a crucial piece if Washington is to reach its stated goal of winning the Joe Moore award, which both sophomore guard John Mills and Switzer have mentioned to the media as the unit's North Star this offseason.

Washington continues spring practice every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday this month.
