Throughout spring practice, it was clear that the Washington Huskies' freshman class was going to be given a lot of runway to earn spots on the roster, and they delivered.

Led by former five-star recruit Kodi Greene, who took every snap with the first team at left tackle, it wasn't hard to see that Jedd Fisch's coaching staff added a significant infusion of talent to the roster. Wide receivers Trez Davis and Jordan Clay impressed, while the trio of TI Umu-Cais, Derek Colman-Brusa, and Ramzak Fruean all made an impact along the defensive line.

In the modern age of college football, where freshmen are expected to come in and pick things up quickly, especially in Fisch's program, the head coach was pleased with what he saw from the newcomers throughout spring practice.

"I would say they've all taken advantage of their opportunities, some more than others, in regard to how much they can add to the program at a given moment," Fisch said after Washington's spring game. "I think Ramzak Fruean's going to be an elite player, and I would expect him to be a huge contributor early and often."

Washington needed to make its biggest upgrades in the trenches, and throughout the 14 practices that were open to the public, it was clear that the headliners of the highest-ranked recruiting class in program history will be an important part of the rotation this fall.

"I think that Derek Colman-Brusa, obviously, Kodi Greene, obviously (had strong spring performances)," Fisch continued. "Then guys like (sophomore tight end) Baron Naone made a huge jump."
