After landing Yaxel Lendeborg with the No. 11 overall pick on Tuesday night, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors were back on the clock on Wednesday night in the second round. With the No. 54 overall selection, the Warriors added another wing, LaJae Jones, out of Florida State.
Jones played at four schools in four seasons of college basketball, starting at Tarleton State in 2022. Jones went on to play at the junior college level for one season at Barton Community College, St. Bonaventure for one season, and finally at Florida State for his final year of college basketball.
Under former Golden State assistant Luke Loucks, Jones averaged 12.7 points on 42.7% shooting from the field to go along with 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest. Jones shot 32.5% from beyond the arc on 5.1 3-point attempts per game.
The 6-foot-7 guard had six performances with 20 or more points. In a breakout effort against Georgia Southern, Jones tallied a season-best 36 points with 10 made 3-pointers in 31 minutes.
Jones will likely battle with Yaxel Lendeborg, Will Richard and Gui Santos for a spot in the wing rotation for the Warriors.
