It's the number of the summer - 250.
With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year, that impressive number has been linked to nearly everything this summer.
And, at the Battle Creek Enquirer and USA Today, we are no different.
The Battle Creek Enquirer combined with other USA Today Network newspapers recently to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States with the top 250 athletes from around the state. You can see that list here, broken down by regions.
Locally, we have come up with our own select list, naming the top 250 athletes among Battle Creek city schools. It is Battle Creek's 250.
We are breaking it down in manageable chunks, focusing on the top 25 male or female athletes at each of the five current traditional core city schools. All shined throughout their high school careers and beyond. Each list will be in alphabetical order, with Enquirer Readers getting to choose who should be No. 1. There will be individuals left off these lists that some of you would argue shouldn’t be. Our poll will include write-in options and it will be interesting to see who makes that list as well.
In this chapter of Battle Creek's 250, we are listing the top 25 female athletes of all time at St. Philip.
Here's our list of the candidates for Battle Creek's 250 - for St. Philip in boys sports.
But before voting, read about why each athlete made the list in our Battle Creek's 250 story online here.
Voting ends on July 17.
