Vote now for Reader's Choice High School Female Athlete of the Year

BATTLE CREEK - We at the Battle Creek Enquirer have had our say. For decades, we have named an Enquirer Athlete of the Year, highlighting the local high school stars.

And we did that this week, with Lakeview's Lilamae Frank earning the title of Female Athlete of the Year and Harper Creek's DJ Wood being named Male Athlete of the Year.

Starting last year, we also added the Battle Creek Enquirer 'Reader's Choice' Male and Female Athlete of the Year.

Candidates are 2026 graduates of the core Battle Creek city high schools. Most have shined in multiple sports throughout their high school careers. Basically, what we were looking for in terms of this list are athletes that played more than one sport, made all-city teams and/or enjoyed postseason success.

The Enquirer Reader's Choice Male Athlete of the year vote starts Thursday, July 2. The Female Athlete of the Year poll started Wednesday, July 1.
