Vote for the Tulare County Athlete of the Week

Visalia Times-Delta/Tulare Advance-Register readers can now vote for their favorite high school athletes.

The poll closes at noon Friday, May 29. There are no restrictions, so vote now and vote often. Please do not email your votes.

Here are the choices for the week of May 26-29:

• Macade Atkins, baseball, Central Valley Christian: Atkins put on an offensive clinic, going 4-for-4 with two home runs, eight RBIs, and three runs scored to lead the Cavaliers to a semifinal playoff victory at Edison.
• M.J. Chavez, baseball, Tulare Western: Chavez hurled a complete game, throwing five strikeouts in seven innings to earn the win on the mound in the Mustangs' playoff victory over Hanford.
• Jordan Powell, girls track and field, Redwood: Powell captured the shot put championship at this season's Central Section Masters Championships.
• Jackie Ramirez, softball, Redwood: Ramirez went the distance, striking out eight Kingsburg batters in a two-hitter as the Rangers advanced to the Central Section Division II championship game.
• Wyatt Ruby, boys track and field, Redwood: Ruby placed first in the 110-meter hurdles at the Central Section Masters Championships.
• Anna Villavicencio, girls track and field, Woodlake: Villavicencio won the Central Section Masters Championships 3,200 meters title.

How to nominate an Athlete of the Week​

Nominations are based on information available to the Times-Delta.

All high school varsity players from Tulare County can be on the ballot. Nominations must be received by Monday morning following that week's games for consideration.

Anyone can nominate an athlete of the week for every sport. Nominate next week’s ballot through email. Readers can email nominations to sports reporter Vongni Yang at [email protected]. Please include a player’s statistics and a photo if possible.
