The Southwest Florida sports team is proud to honor area high school sports programs with our monthly Top Teams list and poll.
At the beginning of each month during the high school competitive seasons, The News-Press and Naples Daily News will select the teams that stood out the month before for their stellar achievements, grit, and sportsmanship. Once we compile the list, we will leave it up to you to decide which squad deserves to be named the Southwest Florida Top Team that month.
In March, the Aubrey Rogers boys lacrosse team was voted Team of the Month with 44 percent of the vote.
Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed by Lee and Collier county area coaches to [email protected] or [email protected]. Coaches and athletic directors are encouraged to submit a nomination by the last day of each month if they have a team that deserves recognition.
Voting for the Southwest Florida April Top Team will run until 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 12 at news-press.com and naplesnews.com.

The Patriots won the Class 3A-District 13 title to secure a spot in the regional playoffs.
Aubrey Rogers Tennis
The Patriots boys and girls teams won Class 2A-District 12 titles.
Barron Collier Girls Track and Field
The Cougars won CCAC and Class 3A-District 12 titles.
Barron Collier Softball
The Cougars won the Class 4A-District 13 title to secure a spot in the regional playoffs.
Bishop Verot Boys Track and Field
The Vikings won district and regional titles.
Bishop Verot Softball
The Vikings went 9-4 and won the Class 2A-District 12 title.
Bishop Verot Tennis
The Vikings boys and girls teams won Class 2A-District 11 titles.
Canterbury Baseball
The Cougars went unbeaten and won the Class 1A-District 11 title.
Community School Boys Lacrosse
The Seahawks went unbeaten and won the Class 1A-District 12 title.
Community School Girls Lacrosse
The Seahawks went 4-1 and won the Class 1A-District 12 title.
Community School Tennis
The Seahawks boys and girls teams won Class 1A-District 12 titles.
Dunbar Girls Track and Field
The Tigers won LCAC and Class 3A-Distict 11 titles.
Estero Softball
The Wildcats went 8-2 and won the Class 4A-District 12 title.
First Baptist Baseball
The Lions went unbeaten and won the Class 2A-District 12 title.
Island Coast Baseball
The Gators went unbeaten and won the Class 4A-District 11 title.
Naples Boys Track and Field
The Golden Eagles won CCAC and Class 3A-District 12 titles.
Naples Tennis
The Golden Eagles boys and girls teams won Class 3A-District 12 titles.
North Fort Myers Softball
The Red Knights won LCAC and Class 5A-District 11 titles.
Palmetto Ridge Baseball
The Bears went 6-2 and won the Class 5A-District 12 title.
Riverdale Softball
The Raiders won the Class 5A-District 12 title to secure a spot in the regional playoffs.
SFCA Boys Weightlifting
The King's won Class 1A-District 14 titles in Traditional and Olympic categories and a Class 1A-Region 7 title in Olympic.
St. John Neumann Baseball
The Celtics went 6-2 and won the Class 1A-District 12 title.
