Duxbury softball player Avy Thompson has been voted the South Shore High School Female Athlete of the Week.

Thompson received 7,300 votes to earn the honor. She went 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs in a 15-3 win over Norwell.

And this week's candidates are...


Lauren Raffetto, Canton track & field​


Raffetto won the mile and 800-meter dash to help clinch the Hockomock League Davenport Division for the Bulldogs. She broke the 800m school record, which was set in 1986, with a time of 2:13.94.

Caroline Arruda, Marshfield softball​


Arruda recorded her 200th strikeout in an 8-2 win over Hingham.

Avery Valicenti, Archbishop Williams lacrosse​


Valicenti (4 goals, 1 assist) tallied her 500th career point to become the program's all-time leader in a 15-5 win over Cardinal Spellman.

Jade DeDominici, Milton Academy softball​


DeDominici pitched a 2-hit complete game with 6 strikeouts, and also had a hit and an RBI in a 7-2 win over BB&N.

Lexi Davos, Norwell lacrosse​


Davos scored her 200th career point in a 3-goal, 5-assist day vs. Hull, a 22-3 victory.

Christi Schwartz, Notre Dame Academy tennis​


Schwartz came out with a three-set win to give the Cougars a 3-2 win over Ursuline.

Shea Sullivan, Scituate lacrosse​


Sullivan registered 3 goals and 4 assists in a 17-5 win over Pembroke.

Audrey Leung, Braintree softball​


Leung tossed a complete-game 3-hitter with 5 strikeouts, including the 100th of her career, in a 7-1 win over Weymouth. She also was 2-for-3 with a double at the plate.

Anna Craft, Silver Lake softball​


Craft went 4-for-4 for 3 RBIs and put across the walk-off hit in the seventh inning to give the Lakers a 12-11 win over Duxbury.

Grace Baker, Pembroke softball​


Baker got the complete-game win with 12 strikeouts as the Titans edged Hanover, 3-2, in nine innings.

Sienna Powers, Hingham softball​


Powers went 3-for-4 with a home run and 5 RBIs as Hingham defeated Plymouth North, 15-3, in five innings.

Our player of the week stories are meant as a way to highlight local high school athletes in the area. Making the list is an achievement in itself. Congratulations to all our athletes.
