There were many standout performances from Monroe-area athletes this week. Who gets your vote as the News-Star's Athlete of the Week?
Below is a list of all the nominees from the week of March 16-21 as well as a poll to vote for the athletes. The poll closes at 10 a.m. onFriday, March 27.
LHSAA baseball: 45 Monroe-area players to watch throughout the 2025-26 season
Caroline Bradley, Oak Grove softball: The junior went 2 for 2 at the plate with two home runs and five RBIs for the D-IV nonselect No. 7 Lady Tigers in an 18-6 victory at Ouachita Christian.
David Cedotal, Simsboro baseball: The junior pitched five shutout innings with two hits and 13 strikeouts for the Class B No. 4 Tigers in a victory against Doyline.
Kiette Cooper, Jena softball: The senior pitched eight innings with two hits, zero earned runs and 14 strikeouts for the D-III nonselect No. 1 Lady Giants in a 3-2 victory at Bunkie.
Bradyn Cupit, West Monroe baseball: The senior pitched six innings with two hits, an earned run, a walk and 10 strikeouts for the D-I nonselect No. 5 Rebels in their 8-2 victory against D-IV select No. 7 OCS.
Brylin Florentine, West Monroe softball: The sophomore went 2 for 3 at the plate with two home runs and five RBIs for the D-I nonselect No. 7 Lady Rebels in a victory against Alexandria.
Santana Harris, Winnfield softball: The junior was 2 for 3 at the plate with two home runs and three RBIs for the D-III nonselect No. 7 Lady Tigers in an 8-0 victory against Bunkie.
Kailyn Head, Ouachita Christian softball: The freshman pitched seven innings with one hit, a walk and 15 strikeouts in a 3-1 victory against Class C No. 10 Simpson.
Kamryn Henley, West Ouachita softball: The sophomore was 2 for 4 at the plate with two triples and three RBIs for the D-I nonselect No. 10 Lady Chiefs in a 7-1 victory at Franklin Parish.
Holdyn Herring, West Ouachita baseball: The sophomore pitched five shutout innings with one hit, a walk and 10 strikeouts in a victory against Delhi Charter.
Landry Long, LaSalle softball: The sophomore pitched seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts for the D-IV nonselect No. 1 Lady Tigers in a 2-0 victory against Jewel Sumner.
Taylor Madison, Ouachita softball: The senior went 4 for 4 at the plate with a double and struck out three in the circle in a victory at Ruston.
Cade Poland, Mangham baseball: The junior went 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and a triple for the D-IV nonselect No. 1 Dragons in a 7-2 victory against Class B No. 7 Family Community Christian.
Peyton Starr, West Monroe baseball: The junior went 3 for 3 at the plate with two home runs and a stolen base in a victory at Ouachita.
Miller Sheets, Sterlington baseball: The senior went 2 for 4 at the plate with two doubles for the D-III No. 3 Panthers in a 4-2 victory at Ruston.
Tyler Roach, Ruston baseball: The junior pitched 6 2/3 innings with six hits, four earned runs, two walks and 11 strikeouts in a loss to Sterlington.
Ava West, West Monroe softball: The junior went 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run, a double and three RBIs against ASH.
