There were many standout performances from Monroe-area athletes this week. Who gets your vote as the News-Star's Athlete of the Week?

Below are the Athlete of the Week nominees for April 27-May 2 as well as a poll to vote for the athletes. The poll closes at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 8.

Why West Monroe's Wade Simoneaux is retiring from coaching

Drew Browning, Weston baseball: The senior went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs in a 4-3 second-round victory against Anacoco.

Colby Casey, Mangham baseball: The sophomore went 2-for-4 with a home run and seven RBIs in a second-round victory against Montgomery.

Kiette Cooper, Jena softball: The senior pitched seven innings with six hits, an earned run, two walks and 13 strikeouts in a semifinal loss to Sterlington.

Kinley Cox, Oak Grove softball: The sophomore pitched a no-hitter with a walk and seven strikeouts in a semifinal victory against Grand Lake.

Rylan Davis, Claiborne Christian baseball: The sophomore pitched a no-hitter with two walks and 10 strikeouts and drove in three RBIs in a second-round victory against Dodson.

Devyn Downs, Sterlington baseball: The junior pitched seven innings with three hits, an earned run, two walks and eight strikeouts in a 7-1 quarterfinal victory against Mangham.

John Howell, Ouachita Christian boys tennis: The eighth-grader clinched the LHSAA Division IV singles championship.

Ansley Johnson, Sterlington softball: The freshman pitched a four-hit shutout with five walks and six strikeouts in a 1-0 semifinal victory against Jena.

Landry Long, LaSalle softball: The sophomore went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and pitched seven innings with six hits, four earned runs, five walks and 11 strikeouts in an 8-7 semifinals victory against Logansport.

Kade Luker, Cedar Creek baseball: The junior hit a triple and pitched seven innings with four hits, an earned run, a walk and 12 strikeouts in a 3-1 second-round victory against Central Private.

Fallyn Moore, Oak Grove softball: The junior drove in five RBIs and hit a grand slam against Grand Lake.

Kinley Morris, LaSalle softball: The senior went 3-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases against Logansport.

Blake Pierce, Mangham baseball: The senior hit a triple and pitched a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts against Montgomery.

Hallie Kate Pullig, Quitman softball: The sophomore went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs in a 5-2 semifinal victory against Hicks.

Bella Rollins, Claiborne Christian softball: The sophomore went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a stolen base in an 8-7 semifinals victory against Maurepas.

St. Frederick girls tennis: The Lady Warriors clinched the LHSAA Division IV team championship.

Miller Sheets, Sterlington baseball: The senior went 4-for-7 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs in two quarterfinal victories against Caldwell.

Leah Steen, LaSalle softball: The sophomore went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and hit the walk-off single against Logansport.
