ONAWAY DISTRICT REPEAT: Onaway softball runs it back, tops Inland Lakes for district repeat
HORNETS CAPTURE DISTRICT TITLE: Pellston softball defends home field, captures MHSAA D4 district title
DISTRICT ROUNDUP FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: Cheboygan softball loses district semifinal thriller at Boyne City
Each week, Cheboygan-area high school athletes will be eligible for the athlete of the week honor. Athlete of the Week polls go live on Monday and voting closes at 10 p.m. on Thursday.
Here’s this week’s candidates:
Tessa Lake, Cheboygan Softball – Hammered a two-run homer, doubled and scored two runs in a district semifinal against Boyne City.
Gus Carper, Inland Lakes Baseball – Went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in a district semifinal win over Pellston.
Rian Esper, Mackinaw City Softball – Recorded two hits and scored two runs in a district semifinal against Pellston.
Onaway Softball Team – Repeated as district champions by beating Inland Lakes in the final.
Pellston Softball Team – Beat Harbor Light to earn its first district title since 2023.
Week 1: Aubrey Havel (Onaway Softball)
Week 2: Ella Kruczynski (Mackinaw City Softball)
Week 3: Taya Long (Wolverine Softball)
Week 4: Emilee Williams (Wolverine Softball)
Week 5: Inland Lakes Girls Track and Field
Week 6: Isabel Hoffmeyer (Burt Lake NMCA Softball)
