DISTRICT SOFTBALL PREVIEW: Previewing Cheboygan-area high school softball district tournaments
Each week, Cheboygan-area high school athletes will be eligible for the athlete of the week honor. This poll goes live on Tuesday and voting closes at 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 28.
Here’s this week’s candidates:
Jaelyn Wheelock, Cheboygan Girls Soccer – Scored two goals in a district win over Grayling.
Adi Fenstermaker, Inland Lakes Softball – Finished with a triple, two doubles and five RBIs in a victory over Oscoda.
Christian Copeland, Inland Lakes Boys Track and Field – Won the Ski Valley title in the high jump.
Poppy Wallace, Mackinaw City Softball – Had two triples and four RBIs in a win over Ellsworth.
Brody George, Onaway Baseball – Went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs in a win over Forest Area.
Clara Hutchinson, Pellston Girls Track and Field – Took second in the pole vault at the Ski Valley meet.
Isabel Hoffmeyer, Burt Lake NMCA Softball – Recorded two triples, an RBI and three runs scored in a win over Posen.
Week 1: Aubrey Havel (Onaway Softball)
Week 2: Ella Kruczynski (Mackinaw City Softball)
Week 3: Taya Long (Wolverine Softball)
Week 4: Emilee Williams (Wolverine Softball)
Week 5: Inland Lakes Girls Track and Field
