Stepping down | Greencastle's Mark DeCarli ends 14-year run softball coach
Ava Beal, Southern Fulton: The junior was highly productive in producing runs this season. She hit .310 (18-for-58) and had a home run and four doubles. She drove in 20 runs.
Emma Bradley, Waynesboro: The junior earned first team All-Mid Penn Colonial Division honors thanks to her .467 average on the strength of 21 base hits. She had one home run and drove in eight this year, also scoring 15 runs.
Addison Gsell, Chambersburg: A longtime standout for the Trojans, her biggest hit came in one of the team’s biggest moments. Her two-run single in the sixth inning lifted Chambersburg to a win over Pennsbury in the Class 6A state tournament first round. She finished her senior season hitting .386. She had one home run, nine doubles and drove in 30 runs, scoring 21.
Kylie Kerns, Greencastle-Antrim: Few hitters in the area could match the senior’s power and production. She finished the year hitting .491 (26-for-53) with four home runs, eight doubles, 17 RBIs and 27 runs scored
Emileigh Linn, James Buchanan: Linn was one of the area’s most prolific hitters, posting a blistering .597 average this year (37-for-62). She showcased her power with four home runs and drove in 14. She also scored 29 runs.
Adalyn Newton, Shippensburg: Coach Jarett Worthington lauded his center fielder’s ability to combine “a great mix of average, speed and power. Despite missing three games injured, she finished with a .475 average (28-for-59). She had two home runs, 23 RBIs, 27 runs scored and 21 stolen bases.
Kamryn Pittman, Southern Fulton: The senior shortstop was a tough out, hitting .492 (29-for-59). She had one home run, eight doubles and three triples, as well as being a threat on the bases with 17 stolen bases and 21 runs scored.
Kindal Rice, Greencastle-Antrim: Rice powered the Blue Devils’ state tournament run with a team-high 24 RBIs. She finished the year hitting .400 (24-for-60) with a home run and nine doubles. She scored 16 runs.
Issie Slimmer, Chambersburg: Slimmer was the workhorse in the circle and a key reason why the Trojans made the 6A state quarterfinals. She started 24 games, finishing with a 2.28 ERA, striking out 90.
Kiersten Swain, Greencastle-Antrim: The junior two-way player was a big reason the Blue Devils returned to the 5A state tournament. In the circle she went 8-2 with a 2.02 ERA. She struck out 61 in 55 ⅔ innings. Offensively, she hit .325 (13-for-40)
Tressa Triplett, Shippensburg: Triplett gave headaches to area pitchers this season, hitting .551 (38-for-69). She swung a powerful bat, blasting eight home runs and driving in 38 runs. She added seven doubles and scored 26 runs.
Erissa Varner, Chambersburg: The senior finished as the Trojans team leader in batting with a .429 average (36-for-84). She tallied three triples and two doubles this season, driving in 14 runs and scoring 29. Her speed also created 25 stolen bases.
Lilliana Wiley, James Buchanan: Wiley was a two-way standout who earned first-team All-Mid Penn Colonial Division honors. She hit .380 (19-for-50) with a home run, eight RBIs and eight runs scored. In the circle, she won six games on the back of a 2.04 ERA. She struck out 120 in 75 ⅓ innings.
