After plenty of solid spring sports performers over the last week, here are the Journal Star high school girls athlete of the week nominees for April 13-18, presented by CEFCU.

The senior put together a career day last week. Meinders hit three home runs in helping lead B/E to a 19-4 win over Lewistown/Valley/Cuba on Wednesday, April 15. She finished the day 4-for-4 with eight RBIs, belting a first-inning grand slam, a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fourth. Meinders, who hit a single in the fifth inning, was also the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts and one walk on 90 pitches.
The senior twirled a no-hitter last week. Centoni struck out 13 en route to a 3-0 win over Galesburg on Saturday, April 18. The Illinois commit faced three over the minimum, retiring the first eight batters, then 12 in a row to pick up the victory. This capped the week for Centoni, who scattered four hits in a 1-0 win over East Peoria on Tuesday, April 14. She struck out 11 and walked two, while going 1-for-3 at the plate with a double in the Mid-Illini Conference win.
The sophomore was a two-event winner last week. Hill won the 800-meter run and anchored the victorious 4x800-meter relay at the John Levingston Invite on Thursday, April 16. She ran the half-mile in a personal-best 2:21.55 and ran the 4x8 with Bristol Schmidgall, Madalyn Ori and Taylor Forney to clock in at 10:45.74. E/B (95 points) won the meet, beating out runner-up host Lewistown (76) and third-place finisher Illini Bluffs (75).
The senior recorded a season-best time last week. Green won the 400-meter dash as a part of the 20-team invitational at Bloomington on Friday, April 17. She clocked in a 59.82 seconds, distancing herself from second-place finisher and teammate Brianna Johnson (1:00.07) by just 0.25 seconds. Green also posted a season-best time in the 200-meter dash (26.88 seconds) to take 10th. Her personal-best time in the 400 is 57.25 seconds.
The freshman came up clutch last week. Chaddock's goal helped PND beat Big 12 Conference foe Normal Community, 1-0, on Tuesday, April 14. The defender emerged from the back row and took a long shot past the outstretched hands of the Normal Community goalie. The Irish are now 11-0-0 on the season and 4-0-0 in Big 12 play. PND has outscored its nearly dozen opponents, 64-1 and have scored 34 unanswered goals.

Schyer Meinders, Brimfield/Elmwood softball
