The high school football season is nearly here, with games kicking off Aug. 20 and Dispatch live coverage beginning Aug. 21 – the first Friday night of 2026.
As part of our season previews, we wrote about the top 10 quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers/tight ends in central Ohio entering the season.

Carter Bellisari, Watterson: The senior had 51 catches for 977 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Trey Bentley, Jonathan Alder: The senior had 117 receptions for 1,234 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Collin Boff, Harvest Prep: The senior passed for 2,470 yards and 23 touchdowns in eight games. He also rushed for 264 yards and three scores.
Davell Brock, Linden-McKinley: The junior passed for 1,235 yards and 18 touchdowns and ran for 855 yards and 11 scores.
Nolan Buirley, Big Walnut: The senior rushed for 2,226 yards and 30 touchdowns on 242 carries and caught 21 passes for 240 yards and three scores.
Kyson Cline, Bloom-Carroll: The senior rushed 265 times for 1,568 yards and 16 touchdowns.
RJ Day, DeSales: The senior set program records in passing yards (2,710) and passing touchdowns (25). He also ran for 331 yards and two touchdowns.
Jett Jerwers, New Albany: The senior ran for 1,503 yards and 14 touchdowns on 189 carries.
Miles Marshall, Centerburg: The senior ran for 1,590 yards and 25 touchdowns on 164 carries and had 22 catches for 286 yards and four touchdowns.
Edmund McAllister III, Pickerington Central: The sophomore rushed for 1,162 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Ryan Sager, Johnstown: The senior rushed for 2,090 yards and 37 touchdowns on 232 carries.
Jamari Snow, Canal Winchester: The senior rushed for 1,459 yards and 12 touchdowns on 224 carries.
Eli Stumpf, Big Walnut: The senior threw for 2,150 yards and 23 touchdowns and rushed for 307 yards and eight scores.
Jackson Szabo, Worthington Kilbourne: The senior threw for 2,299 yards and 21 touchdowns and ran for 815 yards and 13 scores.
Andyriq Thomas, Pickerington North: The senior ran for 1,246 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Dispatch staff reserves the right to remove athletes from the ballot where voting irregularities have occurred.
