Tennessee freshman pitcher Cam Appenzeller received an invitation to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp this summer.
He has a 6-1 record, 4.89 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in 2026. Appenzeller has appeared in 18 games, including two starts. He also has also recorded one save and 59 strikeouts in 53.1 innings.
Appenzeller began SEC play with four consecutive scoreless relief outings and pitched 21.2 scoreless innings before allowing his first run in competition. Four of his six wins have came against conference opponents.
The left-handed pitcher earned a victory against South Carolina in the SEC Tournament. Appenzeller allowed three runs and recorded five strikeouts in five innings.
He is the 21st Tennessee player and seventh pitcher to be associated with the Collegiate National Team, joining Todd Helton, R.A. Dickey, Chris Burke, Luke Hochevar, Drew Gilbert, Drew Beam, Christian Moore and others.
The Collegiate National Team opens its summer schedule with three days of doubleheader games. The Stars and Stripes teams will play three games each against teams from the Appalachian Summer League.
The annual Team USA Stars versus Stripes series will begin June 30 at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The next three games will be contested at the National Training Complex July 1-3. A five-game series will conclude at Segra Stadium July 4.
The camp includes 66 non-draft eligible players and the Team USA Collegiate Team will be announced July 5 after the completion of training camp.
Team USA will play in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship Series at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung City, Taiwan from July 11-15.
