New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown got called out by coach Mike Vrabel on a play where the receiver matched up against cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
Now, a video of that exact play has emerged.
If anything, it was a great rep by Gonzalez, who doesn't give up position and sticks with Brown every step of the way. Quarterback Drake Maye got a little too much air under the throw, but Brown still jumped up and tried to come down with the ball with one hand.
"Maybe he thought that I was just trying to get the crowd going or something, but it's Vrabes, you know? You just take everything with a grain of salt and listen to him. Just make the catch," Brown told reporters on Monday.
Brown can expect plenty of tight-window looks when matching up one-on-one with Gonzalez, who is arguably the best corner in the NFL. Both of these players competing against one another in training camp will only make them better.
