New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel cleared the air about A.J. Brown’s health at the team’s third training camp practice of the offseason.
According to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, Vrabel shot down reports regarding Brown having a potential knee condition on Monday.
"I think a lot of things get fabricated, and people tell stories,” Vrabel said. “…We're very confident in where he's at physically. He's done every single thing. Will he do every single thing? Nope. He'll have time where me or Frank or Jim, us as a group, decide that just like Morgan yesterday, just like Reggie yesterday, there'll be things. But I think he's gotten off to a really good start, both mentally and physically, and acclimating himself to his team."
Brown declared at a press conference in June that his knees were healthy after dealing with knee issues in the past, including requiring constant treatment throughout the 2024 NFL season. Vrabel has the 29-year-old Brown, who is healthy at camp, in line to be the Patriots’ No. 1 wide receiver next season.
Even in what some might consider a down season, Brown still caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in his final year with the Philadelphia Eagles. He will have a great opportunity to improve on those numbers in a pass-heavy offense led by one of the NFL's top young quarterbacks, Drake Maye.
