Despite scoring 41 points in the final two quarters, it proved to be too little and too late for the Mossyrock High School boys basketball team in dropping a 63-57 non-league contest to Ilwaco on Monday night at home.

A 23-point deficit is what the Vikings faced at halftime, yet they didn't fold. They allowed just eight points in the fourth and behind four triples, cut the margin to single digits. It wasn't enough to complete the rally.

Mossyrock head coach Kelly Ross called it a "tale of two halves."

"We are still learning who we can be as a team and hopefully we can put it together for a whole game and get rolling," Ross added.

Colby Cournyer and Shaun Fry each led the Vikings with 17 points. They will play their second non-league game on Saturday on the road versus Centralia.
