SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Angelo State Rams and Rambelles each face a gauntlet schedule in the final weeks of the regular season.
The Angelo State Rams and Rambelles have each caught fire lately with multi-game winning streaks. That said, difficult schedules await for both teams.
With six games remaining in the 2026 regular season, the Rambelles sit comfortably at the seventh seed in the Lone Star Conference Standings with a 9-5 record. Angelo State seeks to clinch a spot in the LSC Tournament beginning in March, a field in which the top eight teams qualify. In order to clinch, the Rambelles must take care of business in the coming weeks. Of Angelo State’s six remaining games, two are against top-ten opponents and four are on the road. Despite the upcoming challenges, head coach Alesha Ellis and her team are ready to embrace the opportunity.
“We definitely have a hard stretch,” Ellis said. “The last six games are going to be tough, every single one of them. Four of the last six are on the road, so we’re going to have to be 20 points better there at their place. [There’s] a lot of adversity that we’re going to have to get through, so I think this practice today and tomorrow at home are very important for us to just fine tune everything.”
On the Rams’ side, head coach Vinay Patel’s squad finds itself residing ninth in the LSC Standings and on the outside looking in for the final tournament spot. ASU is currently 1.5 games behind eight-seeded West Texas A&M, and the Rams look to stay hot through the final six regular season games. After a 3-8 start in conference play, the Rams have since won three straight games, due in part to slowly regaining health in what has been an injury-plagued season.
“Now we have other options,” Patel said. “Two weeks ago, if a player wasn’t playing well, we still had to ride that kid out because we just don’t have the next guy. The depth of getting some guys back has really helped.”
Angelo State’s final stretch of the season begins Thursday at St. Edward’s. The Rambelles tip off their matchup at 5:30 p.m. CST while the Rams begin at 7:30 p.m. CST.
