MACAU, CHINA - MAY 30: Alex Perez is unable to continue after suffering a low blow from Sumudaerji of China in a flyweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at Galaxy Arena on May 30, 2026 in Macau, China. (Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC)
Alex Perez was left puking in a bucket earlier this morning (Sat., May 30, 2026) at UFC Macau LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Galaxy Arena in Macau, China, after the former UFC flyweight title challenger suffered a brutal nut shot at the hands of veteran Sumudaerji.
This main card curtain jerker was expected to deliver back-and-forth action throughout. Perez, who is one of the more seasoned veterans on the UFC roster, was coming off a return to the win column and looking to make 2026 true comeback campaign. On the other side of the cage stood Sumudaerji, who has proven over the years to be one of the most exciting flyweight fighters on the roster. It was a recipe for a memorable Octagon battle.
Unfortunately, the fight will be remembered for something other than MMA artistry.
That’s because Perez suffered a gnarly kick to the family jewels in the beginning of Round 2 that sent him to the canvas in pain. Sumudaerji didn’t intend to connect with the accidental low blow, but the damage was already done. Perez was allowed five minutes of recovery to try to collect himself and keep the fight going. Unfortunately, he ended up needing a puke bucket which left cageside officials with little options. The fight was eventually waved off and ruled a no contest.
