Sean Duncan, a Vanderbilt baseball recruit, was selected in the second round, 63rd overall in the 2026 MLB Draft by the New York Yankees on July 11.
Duncan is expected to sign and begin his professional career rather than play for the Commodores.
The No. 36 player in the 2026 class by Perfect Game and the No. 66 draft prospect by MLB Pipeline, Duncan is from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. The 6-3, 180-pound southpaw has seen his stock rise over the past year to the point that he was not expected to make it to campus at Vanderbilt.
There was some complication to Duncan's draft stock when he had Tommy John surgery in June, but that surgery would have prevented him from pitching in 2027 had he attended Vanderbilt. Getting drafted allows him to rehab his injury in the pros.
