SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Missouri Valley Football Conference media day took place Tuesday morning, but a familiar face was missing: North Dakota State.
The Bison are moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision to join the revamped Mountain West Conference following two national championships in the last five seasons. While losing a dominant program like North Dakota State has an impact, first-year South Dakota head coach Matt Vitzthum is focused only on his own team and continuing a streak of quarterfinal appearances in each of the last three seasons.
“It obviously has a tremendous impact, you know, when a tremendous program leaves our conference,” Vitzthum said. “The focus isn’t about who isn’t in our league, it’s about who’s in our league. It stinks that we lost them, but it is what it is, and we’re moving forward without them.”
The Coyotes look to continue their streak of three straight 10-win seasons, beginning Aug. 29 against Central Connecticut State University.
