Five minutes into USC women’s basketball’s second-round matchup against Washington in the Big Ten Tournament, freshman superstar Jazzy Davidson went down with a right shoulder injury.
She went to USC’s locker room to be evaluated by medical staff and did not return until the fourth quarter of the game.

“She took a pretty significant hit,” said USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb, per USA Today’s Chloe Peterson. “She’s a really tough kid. She wants to play through it. But I was just checking with her to make sure there wasn’t anything that was getting worse, and also at times trying to settle her down. She plays so hard and wants to win.”
USC ultimately lost to Washington by a score of 64-76 and were eliminated from the Big Ten Tournament.
Will Davidson Be Healthy For The NCAA Tournament?
Davidson was able to return to the game in the fourth quarter with her shoulder wrapped under her jersey. She told reporters after the game she would be undergoing an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Gottlieb told reporters that the medical staff said she was healthy to return to the game. She added that Davidson will hopefully just need some rest to be ready for the NCAA Tournament.
“I trust our medical staff when they said she was okay to go back in,” Gottlieb said, per USA Today. “But then I thought it was bothering her and nagging her, and when someone can’t be at their best, you’re not mentally as present. And I was told, collective decision, down the stretch there, let’s shut her down for the rest of the game. But the hope is that she will be okay with some rest.”
USC’s second-round exit in the conference tournament will make it difficult for the Trojans to earn a good seed in the NCAA Tournament. Therefore, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year’s presence on the court will be even more crucial for USC.
