On Sunday, former USC quarterback Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks punched their ticket to Super Bowl LX. After 60 years, Darnold will finally become the first ever USC QB to start a Super Bowl.

However, Darnold is not the only Trojan playing in this year’s Super Bowl. Seattle also has three former USC players on its elite defense Leonard Williams, Uchenna Nwosu, and Brandon Pili.

A former USC All-American defensive lineman, Williams is in the 11th year of a highly successful NFL career. Prior to this season, however, he had made the playoffs just once—the result of him spending the majority of his time in the league with the New York Jets and New York Giants.

Nwosu was a great development success story for USC, emerging from a relatively unheralded recruit to an all-conference linebacker his senior season in 2017. Having established himself as a very solid NFL player over the past eight years, he is finally headed to his first Super Bowl.

Pili is the most unlikely story of the four Trojans in this year’s Super Bowl. USC’s first ever player from the state of Alaska, Pili was an undrafted free agent in 2023 who started this season on Seattle’s practice. However, he has worked his way into the team’s defensive line rotation and has seen key playing time during their postseason run.

While Seattle has four USC players on its team, the AFC champion New England Patriots do not have any. However, Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai is the younger brother of former USC linebacker J.R. Tavai.
