PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A pair of Team USA curlers took home the mixed doubles silver medal on Tuesday at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Cory Thiesse and Korey Dropkin defeated the reigning gold medalist Italy on Monday and advanced to the finals. They battled with the team from Sweden in the gold medal match, but fell 6-5 and claimed the silver.

This is the first medal for Team USA in the event and Thiesse became the first American woman to win an Olympic curling medal.

The duo visited Columbia’s headquarters in Portland, Oregon, back in November 2025, fresh off winning the U.S. Olympic trials. They were helping promote the Oregon-based company’s release of the new USA Curling uniforms.

Columbia Sportswear was tasked with designing the highly specific outfits for the USA Curling athletes to compete in at the 2026 Olympics. Both Thiesse and Dropkin were in the Rose City to try them out, celebrate the release, and even visited the lone curling facility in Oregon, the Evergreen Curling Club.
