Apr. 30—GRAND FORKS — UND's 2026-27 roster is beginning to take shape.
The Fighting Hawks announced two incoming transfers on Thursday: 6-foot-1 forward Aliyah Green and 5-foot-8 guard Jayda Maves.
Maves spent the last three seasons at Western Colorado playing for
Adam Jacobson
, the Hawks' new assistant coach.
On paper, Maves seems to be a good fit for head coach Dennis Hutter's 3-point-oriented offense. She shot 42.8% from beyond the arc this season, which ranked fifth in Division II, and made 2.7 triples per game.
Maves averaged 13.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and earned a spot on the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Second Team. She was a starter in all three years at Western Colorado.
Green averaged 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game as a freshman at Butler Community College this season. She was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Green was also named the conference Defensive Player of the Year twice while playing at Andover High School.
Ciona Wells, a 5-foot-7 guard, was UND's first addition in the transfer portal earlier this month. She made 38 starts in two seasons at Western Oregon, averaging 9.2 points, 3.8 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Wells had a 3.03 assist-to-turnover ratio this season, the best in Division II basketball.
The Hawks had four seniors and graduate students on the roster in 2025-26. An additional five players entered the transfer portal, though sophomore forward Finley Ohnstad withdrew her name.
Between graduating seniors and departing transfers, UND is losing its top-four scorers.
Ava Miller, a 6-foot-2 forward who made 28 starts and averaged 7.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore this season, is transferring to South Dakota.
Sophomore Skyler Volmer is transferring to Dakota Wesleyan, an NAIA program in Mitchell, S.D. The 5-foot-9 guard made 11 starts this season and averaged 3.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
Mataeya Mathern recently announced her commitment to Jamestown. The 5-foot-11 sophomore guard's role increased in the final months of the 2025-26 season, culminating in two starts to close out the year. She made three starts and appeared in 29 games, averaging 12.7 minutes.
Mathern averaged 2.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Redshirt freshman Anaiyah Fletcher has not publicly announced her transfer destination. The 6-foot forward appeared in 14 games, collecting a total of 13 points and 21 rebounds.
