The North Carolina Tar Heels have a few more months before Michael Malone's first roster as head coach hits the court.
Over the past few months, Malone and his staff have worked hard to assemble the roster. They did so through the transfer portal, the 2026 recruiting class, and retaining a few players. But they may not be done just yet.
While UNC has been reportedly in pursuit of Oregon guard Wei Lin, a new target has now emerged, per Inside Carolina. The outlet is reporting on Thursday that a new transfer guard entered UNC's radar — Buffalo guard Angelo Rizzi.
Rizzi was granted a hardship waiver by the NCAA to play a sixth season on Wednesday, as On3's Jamie Shaw reported. With him being eligible, it appears as if UNC is now putting him on its radar.
Brizzi began his career at Villanova as part of the 2021 recruiting class before spending a year at Davidson and then transferring to Buffalo. He averaged 14.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game with Buffalo last season.
With the Lin news followed up by this, it's clear that UNC is looking to add a guard to the roster.
