The North Carolina Tar Heels are one of the most complete teams in the country as they wrapped up the 2026 regular season.
Its pitching staff ranks among the nation’s best, led by ace Jason DeCaro and relievers Caden Glauber and Walker McDuffie. But the Tar Heels also boast a deep group of position players, and that balance makes them especially dangerous.
As postseason play begins with the ACC Tournament starting today, here is a look at three of UNC’s top performers from the regular season.
Hull has been UNC’s most consistent hitter, leading the Diamond Heels in batting average (.370), doubles (20) and RBIs (67). He has also hit six home runs.
A constant presence on the basepaths, he owns a team-high .486 on-base percentage and has swiped 16 bases in 19 attempts. In the field, Hull has been nearly flawless, recording 114 putouts with just one error for a .991 fielding percentage.
He has been tremendous in conference play, hitting .418 with 13 doubles, five home runs and 48 RBIs — production that helped earn him first-team All-ACC honors.
Schaffner also earned All-ACC honors after batting .354 with 75 hits in 212 at-bats, including 15 doubles, five triples and six home runs, while crossing the plate 69 times and driving in 37.
He has shown a disciplined eye with 34 walks and 14 hit-by-pitches against only 27 strikeouts. Schaffner also brings a running threat, leading the team with 69 runs scored while stealing 24 bases in 27 attempts and posting a .466 on-base percentage.
While he may have started his career in Durham, Winslow has been a key part of UNC’s success this season in the DH role. He has provided middle-of-the-order thump, hitting .307 with 58 hits in 189 at-bats. He has logged 13 doubles and nine home runs, driven in 51 runs and scored 55.
Winslow earned third-team All-ACC honors, becoming one of eight UNC players to be named to an All-ACC team.
