The UIL announced the postponement of the state track and field Class 5A and 2A running events until Saturday morning, citing upcoming inclement weather. They are going to finish the field contests before concluding Friday's competition.

The original schedule had the 5A and 2A high schooler finishing the field events in the early afternoon before starting the track events at 5 p.m. However, the National Weather Service has put out a severe thunderstorm through Thursday afternoon to the night.
