Justin Gaethje silenced many on his rise back to title contention.
Gaethje, two-time UFC interim champion and long-time staple of the lightweight division, received what many at one point thought was an unlikely title shot back in January. Despite having No. 1 contender Arman Tsarukyan looking to get his opportunity, Gaethje was matched up against Paddy Pimblett for the interim lightweight title at UFC 324. Not only did many not like Gaethje's of getting the interim fight, but they didn't like his chances of winning it. Gaethje entered as an underdog against Pimblett. Despite the adversity, Gaethje dominated the British fighter from start to finish, taking home his second interim belt.

Gaethje (27-5 MMA, 10-5 UFC) returns to the cage this Sunday against UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) in a title unification bout. The two headline UFC Freedom 250 (Paramount+) at the White House in Washington.
