Michael Oliveira had perhaps the most anticipated of the nine debuts at UFC Fight Night 283, and he delivered against Oban Elliott.
Oliveira (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) found his range early in the welterweight bout with Elliott (12-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) on Saturday at Belgrade Arena in Serbia. He scored a quick knockdown courtesy of the jab, then shortly after got another knockdown with an overhand left, leading to swarm of ground strikes for the knockout at the 1:49 mark of Round 1.

Following his debut performance, an elated Oliveira said this is just the beginning of his planned takeover of the 170-pound division – even teasing a quick turnaround for UFC 330 on Aug. 15.
I wanted to show Dana I belong here and how comfortable I am here, and I think today showed that I'm a true fighter," Oliveira said through an interpreter in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. "They had offered me (Chidi Njokuani), and I think I want to take that fight."
As Oliveira left the octagon, longtime play-by-play announcer Jon Anik heaped some high praise upon the 28-year-old Brazilian.
"At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, we might just have our next Brazilian superstar: Michael Oliveira," Anik said.
