Yaroslav Amosov will draw a rising contender in his second UFC fight.

Amosov (29-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meets Joel Alvarez (23-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in a welterweight bout on May 9 at Newark, N.J. (Paramount+), promotion officials announced Thursday morning. Alvaro Colmenero was first to report the news.

Former Bellator champion Amosov made good in his UFC debut when he submitted veteran Neil Magny in the first round at UFC on ESPN 73 this past December. He has just one loss on his record which came in his final Bellator fight in 2023.

Alvarez's 170-pound debut was a success when he defeated Vicente Luque at UFC Fight Night 261 this past October – his first ever decision win. The 33-year-old Spanish fighter is on a four-fight winning streak.

The current UFC 328 lineup includes:

  • Khamzat Chimaev vs. Sean Strickland – for middleweight title
  • Alexander Volkov vs. Waldo Cortes Acosta
  • Sean Brady vs. Joaquin Buckley
  • Jan Blachowicz vs. Bogdan Guskov
