Jorge Masvidal is confident Yaroslav Amosov would pose big problems for Islam Makhachev.
Former Bellator champion Amosov (30-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has impressed in his UFC tenure so far by submitting Neil Magny and most recently Joel Alvarez at UFC 328.
Having trained with Amosov at American Top Team, Masvidal sees the 32-year-old Ukranian fighter giving top contenders a run for their money.
"He's a bad fight for everybody," Masvidal said of Amosov on "Deep Waters." "Even Makhachev, all the way down to No. 10, Yaroslav is that good. He's a bad fight for all these guys."
Dustin Poirier, who also trained with Amosov at American Top Team, thinks his teammate is a nightmare matchup for UFC welterweight champion Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) – and Masvidal agrees.
"Nightmare for Makhachev," Masvidal added. "Bigger, longer, and I'm going to say probably stronger, as well, and his wrestling. He's also, I think, a two-time world champion in Sambo, something like this. So, he's going to be all right with the body locks, the foot sweeps, the in-close fighting that Makhachev does. Yaroslav will be able to outshine him probably."
