SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - FEBRUARY 01: (L-R) Mauricio Ruffy of Brazil punches Rafael Fiziev of Kazakstan in a lightweight fight during the UFC 325 event at Qudos Bank Arena on February 01, 2026 in Sydney, Australia. (Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC)
Mauricio Ruffy regained his UFC momentum earlier tonight (Sat., Jan. 31, 2026) at UFC 325 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, after battering lightweight contender Rafael Fiziev via second-round TKO (punches).
This 155-pound matchup of strikers was highlighted on every fight fan’s card. Both Ruffy and Fiziev have displayed some of the best striking the lightweight division has to offer, making a matchup between the two a recipe for complete chaos.
As it is with any matchup of technical strikers, Ruffy and Fiziev were a tad reserved in the first round. It was still an entertaining back-and-forth fight, but nothing that was going to create a finish. That all changed in the second round when Ruffy connected on a clean right hand that knocked Fiziev silly. Ruffy was in full pursuit as he unloaded heavy punches all around the cage. Fiziev eventually crumbled and the referee was forced to step in.
Check out the video highlights below and let us know who Ruffy should fight next!
