Jeff 'Bobo' Beathard. 5'10" 190# 4.68 40 time. 18.9 receiving in 2015. 21.7 in kickoff returns in 2015. As SB Nation says, he's probably a bloodline draftee. His father , Jeff, Sr. is a scout for Carolina and his grandfather is the famed Bobby Beathard, ex-GM of Washington and San Diego. Chances of even making the PS is less than 5%.

Elie Bouka 6'1" 205# in 4.3 40 time 24 reps at 225# He is a cb, rec, and returner. He did not play the 2015 season due to an Achilles injury. He may be ready to work out by training camp time. He'll probably make the team or IR.

Amir Carlisle 5'10" 180 to 195# been 40 timed in 4.3 but did 4.5 on his pro day. He is a slot rec, rb, and a returner. I'd say he has less than 50% chance of making the practice squad.

Of all the rookies coming in, who is the best punt returner? I was really hoping we would get a dynamic player this offseason so we could remove PP, but doesn't seem like that is the case. Hope I'm wrong!

Looks to me like the best potential returners are Ellie bouka and christopher hubert, but I don't think either is great.

A wild card here might be Brandon Williams, former RB with 4.38 speed, solid body and toughness. Plus, Harlan Miller has some experience returning punts.

According to BA---J.J. Nelson is the guy. However, what about his slight frame and his propensity to fumble on returns at UAB? Certainly his speed is attractive. Is he a catch, make you miss and get from 0-60 in a flash kind of returner?

Clay Debord 6'6" 305-310 # 5.0 40 Tackle. He's fast for a lineman. Too early to tell what type of tackle because he doesn't have nfl strength yet. When he does have nfl strength his weaknesses will probably fall in line. 70% chance to make PS.

Mathias Farley 5' 11" 205-210# 4.45 40 21 reps at 225# 33 vertical 10' broad jump. SS,FS,ST. Zowser! He's an athletic safety. He's first team Notre Dame quality. 20% chance of making the team because of ST ability. 80% chance of making PS if he makes it through waivers.

Trevon Hartfield 6'0" per Cards 6'2" per Trevon and 3 other sources. 186-195#. 4.4 40. 10'2" broad jump. cb, returner. Excellent tackler and a dangerous returner. 5 interceptions in 2015. Should bulk up 10lbs. and become a safety. Less than 50% chance of making PS.

Chris Hubert 5'9" 170lbs, 4.43 40 rec., ret., some cb. Set school records on receptions and receiving tds. Excellent punt ret avg. and good ko ret avg. Info hard to find on this man. He was successful tryout player which may mean something. 2 of our successful tryouts last year went on and had careers in the nfl. Less than 50% chance to make PS.

Lamar Louis 5' 11' 232lbs 4.53 - 4.6 40 26 reps at 225lbs. Olb, possible RB, Safety. Off and on performer. Has a 30% chance of making PS.

Hakeem Valles 6'5" 260lbs 4.6 - 4.78 40 TE. Really, nothing special about him other than he was captain of team. Less than 20% chance of making PS.

Ronald Zamort 5' 10" 174lbs 4.40 - 4.52 40 10' 5" broad jump. CB. Other than he's gung-ho, there's nothing special about him. Less than 50% chance of making PS.

Close buddy of mine is a big time Sooner fan and said one of the main knocks on Williams was his fumbling while at OU.

Good info, Zonie. It was a knock on J.J. Nelson as well and BA has stated that Nelson for now is the guy. Hopefully, all that will change for the good.

his straight line speed is fantastic but is his wiggle good enough? IMO that is more important but you do see guys fly right through the middle of everyone at times.

That's the question, Rage. On the flip side, Jaxson Shipley is not a burner, but he's got good hands, vision and wiggle. I thought they should have brought him up from the PS last year.

Good article with video on WR Marquis Bundy

http://krqe.com/2016/04/28/marquis-bundy-believes-he-has-an-nfl-shot/

6-5...4.4 speed...good blocker on run-oriented team...only 31 catches and 2 TDs playing in that system. Was scouted the most heaviest before the draft by the Cardinals and Panthers.

From Revenge of the Birds on S Tyrequek Zimmerman

Zimmerman (6-0, 211) signed with the Seahawks as a rookie free agent at the start of training camp in 2015. He was released on August 7, re-signed on August 9 and then was waived on August 31. A three-year starter at Oregon State, Zimmerman started 38 consecutive games to finish his career and totaled 266 tackles, two sacks, three interceptions and 12 passes defensed with the Beavers.

It's always interesting to go back and look at these threads after preseason to see where some of these less heralded UDFAs came from.

It's interesting to note that the last two years we've had multiple guys that came in on a tryout after the draft and later proved to be great finds. Meaning that in addition to the 250+ players that are drafted, and the roughly 400 that are added as UDFAs, these guys probably weren't offered a contract of any kind.

This year both Elijhaa Penny and Chris Huber were signed after a tryout. It's possible (maybe even probably) that neither make the roster, but both have stood out in camp as being potential NFL contributors. Last year Harold Jones-Quartey was signed after a tryout. We tried to sneak him to our practice squad after an impressive preseason, but he was claimed by the Bears and contributed a respectable amount as a rookie last year.

Our scouting department under Keim seems to go so much further in finding talent from anywhere and everywhere than the previous regimes. Here are three players from small schools throughout the country weren't one of the 650+ people offered a contract in some amount by the NFL initially, and yet all three have shown to have ability to play in the NFL.
