I hear you on that. Someone eventually even if its just one player breaks the mold tho. Like the no qb who had completion percentage 50 in college will succeed in the nfl Josh Allen broke that. Someone will break the games started in college mold maybe its Ty i dont know it will be someone tho.
Can Newton was an MVP after only starting one year in D1 (played JuCo for a year I think).

It happens, it’s just super-rare.

Great! Now name ten more old QBs that came in and lit the league on fire. You can't, because you're talking about outliers. The odds are stacked against Simpson. It's simple fact.

Before I go into my list, undrafted Jake Delhomme became a starter at 28 and went to the SB at 30 and was 16 games over 500 in good career.

First off, only 46 QBs have make the SB in the last 40 years with 2 going each year. Over 700 different QBs have started a game at QB in that time. So, only 6% of them reached a SB. The odds are stacked against ALL QBs. Again, no one knows how a QB will shake out in the long run.

Since there are only two a year, here is the complete breakdown of all 46 unique starting quarterbacks from the last 40 Super Bowls (Super Bowl XXI in 1987 through Super Bowl LX in 2026).

only 6 second rounders...so 25 of 46 were first round picks..makes sense. Over 50%

Now extrapolate that into all QBs drafted and you will see that 15 is probably less than 1%.

You don’t gamble at the QB position especially when you are the Cards.

Even K1 had decent success for a crap franchise just imagine what a flyer will look like for a franchise that only has 1 QB with a winning record since being in the league.

Every QB pick is a gamble. Our last top pick set us back 7 years.

Our last pick took us to the playoffs and then not being able to draft caught up with us as usual.

Same thing happened during Plummers,Warners, and Palmers late tenures.

Crazy that this keeps happening to the same team.

Yes. That one pathetic playoff performance was directly connected to what we did the next two years in the draft.
Do you even remember the great Kyler Murray NEVER, NEVER, NEVER won a must win to clinch game…EVER?

Yes and I remember a team that had talent then got hurt during that season. I also remember bringing in turds like AJ green and letting guys like Christian Kirk walk out the door. Never improving the oline.

The list goes on and on.

Now were are right back to where we have always been before K1 constantly looking for a QB and freaking it up all along the way. We don’t have single QB on our roster that has done anything in the NFL.

Do you remember?

It’s really not.

Next year you might have 6-8 QBs that are possibly first round graded.

Simpson is the recipient of a terrible QB class and nothing more.
HAHA!

From July 27th

From May 27th

From April 27th

From August 2nd

From July 26th

Maybe but he’s not UNDRAFTED. He’s like a third round pick and a guy projected to be the same long-term backup he was in college.

Also in the 2027 draft class he has two years’ starting experience which doubles the amount of data teams have on him. Maybe he’s butt and a fifth-round pick — he’s Clayton Tune. Maybe he’s Fernando Mendoza tho.

In an ideal world, we get two 1st rounders and go OT and Edge/DT and use 34 on him. I think that makes move happy here.
Yeah, personally I'm hoping for Bailey or Reese - its beyond pathetic that we're STILL looking for good edge players after skipping Will Anderson and blowing picks like Robinson and BJ.

In a vacuum, Love would be a fun addition, but there seems no reason to add a RB when both your OL and DL need so much work. Monti talked about building through the trenches, and 3 years in, he's done a terrible job.

I'd be much more excited about turning this thing around if I had any faith in the guy in charge. If his job was to bring in above average starters, he's been an absolute failure.

Simpson will be the biggest gamble at QB the Cards have ever made if they draft him in the first two rounds in the draft.

If Simpson were to come out next year he might go undrafted.
Don’t know about undrafted, but can make a case regarding number of starts as a concern. If he did stay at Alabama, he might have a good year and enhance his draft stock for 2027 as much as the rest of that group.

He came out because of the weak draft class and I don’t think he was able to go back to Bama.
