Another embarrassing subject change when factually incorrect. Absolutely shocking.
Go on, how did you PROVE that Kliff had zero input. You quoted an article that showed Keim did an evaluation. You showed 0 evidence on Kliff having zero input.

...and then you accuse me of being factually incorrect. Absolutely not shocked.

Quote me saying he had zero input, please.

Second time I’ve asked.

I don't no much about biology but I did notice how excited Kliff got when we drafted Isabella.

Isabella was exact the type of player that would have lit up the Big 12 under Kliff. Kliff may have wanted him, but Keim should have pulled him aside on that. Although on second thought, Isabella is also the type of small school prospect that Keim loved.

The GM has final say on draft picks, unless its a top 5 pick (ownership can be hands on with those) the draft falls squarely on the GM.

Lol okay. Says the guy that said Kliff had zero input.

He's too stupid to make any sort of roster decisions and the Cards are the only team stupid enough to act this way. Normally that last sentence is accurate, but we both know that isn't true. You'll probably just insert a laugh emoji and walk away.
"Zero input" isn't the case, coworkers talk obviously. But you're misunderstanding how the NFL works. it is quite normal for headcoaches, especially young headcoaches, to not have a real say in the draft or free agency. There are countless stories of GMs drafting players the coaches don't like, and GMs refusing to sign free agents the coach wants. GMs are in charge of talent eval, they have strong opinions about who they like, and big egos. They always have more scouting experience than the coaches and they believe they know better than the coaches on which players will be good.

It is counter intuitive and stupid, but its the truth. This is why Bill Belichick demanded he be made general manager as well as headcoach when he was hired by the Patriots.

Belichick: "If you’re going to be responsible for the results, you need to have control over the decisions.”

Bill Parcels: “If I’m going to be asked to cook the meal, I’d like to be able to pick the groceries.”

This stuff wasnt said for no reason, it was a huge challenge to the way things are done. Coaches that aren't also the general manager (or in Parcels case, put specifically in his contract that he has final roster say) dont control the roster at all. Its a privilege that GMs/owners very rarely surrender to the coaches. Coaches will give input on scheme fit, but GMs are supposed to be THE guy on talent eval. Quite often the GM will pick the guy he thinks is more talented and tell the coach to make it work.

When Saban was with the Dolphins, he pounded the table for Drew Brees in free agency and was told no.

Another famous example. Vince Young - taken 3rd overall by Houston. The headcoach Jeff Fischer HATED Young and was vehemently against the selection.

Anyone else notice that whenever a pick busts, all of a sudden coaches are heavily involved and deserve the brunt of the blame? Im not talking about the discussion in this thread, this is something every fanbase seems to do.

I never see it go the other way when a pick hits. No one is crediting Nick Sirianni for the Eagles' draft success.

Ok it is weird to see Kingsbury being blamed for draft picks. I think it was Keim and I think it was Monti and not Gannon.

Do Coaches have an ear? Sure. Do they get final say over the GM? Nah.

FWIW, I think Monti was more collaborative with Gannon and Keim was more collaborative with Arians. But the next couple the GM had/will have a heavier hand. The successors are weak af betas.

Jon Gruden’s in-depth videos are something else. This is a great video with Ty Simpson last night. To me, Ty comes across as trying to front some hubris, but he seems insecure. Just a hunch from what I’m picking up and I could be wrong. His ability to quickly communicate back to Gruden exactly what he needs to, his adaptability on the fly, and then the last 10 minutes or so of him running a Gruden-style offense with Gruden’s cadence and codes was super-fun to watch.

Seems like a good kid. I’d be stoked if he’s added to the team next week. Definitely a good prospect.

I been digging in on Ty a little the past couple days.
The kid is a better prospect than I have been giving him credit for. The low number of starts is still a concern but the kid does learn quickly.
He does have guts and play with courage. That comes in handy in the nfl and can rally a team behind him.
