Twins jump multiple spots in power rankings after impressive stretch originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Minnesota Twins have been extremely streaky this season. Under new manager Derek Shelton, they started 11-7, and they suffered a brutal 5-21 collapse to bounce back with a 10-5 stretch and then a 7-12 stretch.
However, this team is on a hot streak, especially over the past month. The offense has really woke up, slashing .285/.347/.494 as a team with 33 home runs and an AL-leading 113 runs in June.
Veteran Byron Buxton has been especially big this year, which has helped a pitching staff that came into the season losing their ace and has struggled to keep opponents off the board.

Twins jump multiple spots in power rankings after impressive stretch
The Twins had their work cut out for them last week. They took on the Texas Rangers on the road. The offense was explosive, outscoring Texas 25-7, sweeping them in the three-game series.
That momentum would carry on to their weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, where they won it 2-1, outscoring the D-backs 23-19.
With the 5-1 week, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter bumps the Twins up a few spots from No. 22 last week to No. 20 this week in his latest power rankings.
"The Twins have three straight series wins and a [7-3] record over their last [10] games, and they are looking to get back to the .500 mark for the first time since they were 12-12 on April 22. The offense plated 50 runs in six games last week, with Trevor Larnach and Josh Bell leading the way."
Minnesota kicked off a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, where they lost 2-1, but will look to get that back on Tuesday. After that, they have a good chance to get another series win under their belt when they take on the Colorado Rockies at home.
