The Wolfpack’s former coach Herb Sendek’s first point guard at NC State has signed one of Herb Sendek’s ’25-’26 guards as his first transfer as the coach at NC State.

Background:

Ranked 4-star, #52 as a transfer on 247.

Hammond has been on the roster at Santa Clara for three seasons. He only played 19 games as a freshman (starting 2) due to injuries, and he redshirted his sophomore season. So he will have two seasons of eligibility.

He started every game this past season (30.3 mpg), led the team in scoring and ranked 5th in the conference (WCC). He was named first team All-WCC and NABC All-District.

Fun Fact: Christian is from a basketball family. His late grandfather Julian played in the ABA for the Rockets. His dad Julian II played at LMU and professionally in Australia. His mom played for Cal Poly and his brother plays for the University of Colorado.

Is he a point guard? The stats do not look like it. Last season he profiled more like a shooting guard. He was 4th on the Santa Clara team in assists per game and second in turnovers per game. He was 6th in Assist / TO ratio. He was 1st in total FG made, 2nd in total FG attempts, and 3rd in both total 3PT made and attempts.
