Tonight the Trail Blazers visit the Suns at Talking Stick Resort Arena in a game scheduled to be begin at 7 p.m. Arizona time.

As far as I can determine the game will not be televised. Canaan is scheduled to play today.

Here is an excerpt from an azcentral article:

Suns point guard Isaiah Canaan is used to spending time with the athletic training staff, but his most recent injury was far less gruesome. Canaan missed games Monday and Wednesday with an injured thumb, which he says is just jammed and nothing more serious.
"Yeah, I’m good," said Canaan, whose thumb was lightly taped on Thursday. "I’ve been all right – just letting it rest a little bit, but I’m ready to go."

Canaan and coach Igor Kokoskov both expect that the point guard will be ready to play in Friday's preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The game should be available on Suns.com stream. Hopefully Rise Network has their poo together this time. It may also be available to stream on league pass, but will be subject to blackout restrictions.

I hope they have their same poo together as last time where I was actually able to watch their stream outside of AZ.

I like this move. I've generally been pushing Harrison as the starter (even though I view him as a potential 3rd string defensive specialist in an ideal scenario), but he has done little this preseason to inspire confidence. So give the guy with the most upside a chance to shine.

If you can't choose the player who is exactly what you want, choose one who has a chance to become what you want.

I started singing Love the One You're With as I read your post. Stephen Stills I'm not. But yeah, find the one you want or build the one you want.

Agreed. Let's give Okobo and Canaan the most minutes at point guard and see what the Suns have.

Less a trade, I think Kokoskov wants to get an idea of the Suns point guard rotation when the season begins.

No one knows the rotation right now. There's a chance either Shaq or Canaan gets waived also so we're over the max roster spots. I could see either resigning on a Two-Way deal and sticking around on the main roster for the first 45 days, similar to what the Suns did last year with Mike James. He was only away from the main roster for 2-3 days last year and never really on the G-League roster. They planned on keeping him until Canaan showed up right after he got a real contract. It wasn't guaranteed yet though so he was sent packing within a week of having his deal converted. That's why he was so salty talking trash about the Suns on Twitter at the end of the season.

There is NO chance Shaq gets waived. None.

I agree. Thinking Harrison will become a good offensive player, is like thinking Dragen will become one at this point. His jumper is just hideous.

Bottom line though is they need to get another pg from some where else.

This is exactly why Kokoskov needs to figure out... who best fits in the Suns immediate plans.

If no trades are made, he needs to prioritize who is the most ready to start and who is ready to play at the point guard position in the opener. The start of the regular season is looming on October 17th when the Suns play the Mavericks at home.

Unless Canaan proves differently (presuming no trades are made) I'm thinking he is the most ready to start based on his performance last season prior to his injury.

Why not? He doesn't deserve an NBA roster spot. Do you think he should be gifted one? Or do you think the Suns are just going to gift him one even though that shouldn't happen?

And if nobody is ready to play, let alone start?

Play the best available playmaker at this position even if it is not a point guard.
